Local Rules Notes...

(Be sure to check out any special rules prior to start of any Men's Club Event!) 1. If and when we play the ball up (lift, clean & place "through the green"), you will NOT be allowed to improve the ball's lie by moving from rough to fairway. (FYI, USGA rules currently allow improving your lie in this manner. Our local rule overrides the USGA rule.)

CITY OF MERIDEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

We are hosting the 2012 Senior NEPL Championship

@ Hunter on Monday June 25 !

Qualifier Date to be announced

NEPL ALL-NET / WALTER KANE

In the All-Net Division, Hunter Men’s Club came in 6th out of 13 Teams. Stanley Golf won the event played at Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence. The course was in great shape but the wind was howling. Bob Papenguth, Mark St Onge, Joe Zajac, Steve Rowe, Howie Benane and Bill McGinn did pretty good at this Donald Ross designed course.

Dennis Murphy and Doan Nguyen came in second in the President/Tournament Chairman Division. The Prez played poorly, but Doan shot a career low 76 under the tough conditions. He also got the 2nd low gross score in this fun tournament.

My thanks to the record number of players who tried to qualify for this fun event. As a result, we fielded a competitive team.  Donald Ross may have got the best of many of us this time, but had we been a little more familiar with the course, we would have taken everything...       D Murphy, Prez

2012 Hunter Golf Season Pass

The 2012 Hunter Golf  Season Pass is now available at the Hunter Pro Shop.

Last year, the City established a single 18-hole rate for both Residents and Non-Residents. This year, a single Regular Season Pass rate ($1240) has been established for Residents and Non-Residents, at least until March 31, 2012.  Starting in April, the Non-Resident rate will be increased $1400, which is still $300 less than the 2011 rate.

In addition, Non-Resident Senior rates have been reduced to $815.  Resident Senior Rates are $650.  To qualify for either Senior rate, a golfer must be 62 years old.  With the Senior Pass, play is permitted all day on weekdays and restricted to after 3pm on weekends.

Why get a season pass?  If you play at least 40 rounds a year at Hunter, the pass is a great deal. And with the 18-Hole greens fee rate increasing to $37 on weekends, it’s an even better deal than last year.  The normal golf season lasts 30 weeks (April thru October).  If you play once a week and throw in another 5 rounds when convenient, the pass will pay for itself.  If you plan to play every Saturday & Sunday, the pass will save you over $900.

The Season Pass is generally good for golf (only) anytime the course is open (some Junior and Senior restrictions do apply). As usual, golf cart rental and Pro Shop purchases are extra.  Finally, there is a $2 per round charge for the Course Improvement Program (note the new bunkers, irrigation and storm warning systems).  This fee is charged whether a season pass or not .

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Regular Season Pass, Resident - $1240

Regular Season Pass, Non-Resident - $1240 until 3/31/12,  $1400 after 4/1/12

Senior Season Pass, Resident - $650

Senior Season Pass, Non-Resident - $815

Call Bob in the Pro Shop @ (203) 634-3366 for more info and winter hours.

With the mild winter, a new irrigation system and upgraded bunkers on most holes, Hunter Golf Course promises to be better than ever in 2012.  And as one of the consistently best conditioned public courses in the area, that is saying a lot...

See you in the Spring!
